Snow Days!!
I'm a midwestern girl at heart, so living in the south for the last 5 winters, I missed out on the snow. But now, thanks to wonderful Ohio weather, I'm experiencing a real live snowfall! I love snow! Especially on days when I don't have anywhere to go.
Today, I'll be sitting in my office writing, a cup of hot cocoa at my side, Christmas carols playing, while the snow continues to coat the ground. And to think, I fell asleep last night expecting to wake to find that the weatherman had played a joke on me...
Enjoy!Labels: Life's little luxuries, Mother Nature

This is August?!?!?!
For the first time in almost 6 years, Mr. Honey and I sat outside in August at our place of residence, and we actually got a little chilly instead of nearly sweating to death just by thinking of stepping outside.
In August!!
I love my new home. :)
Anyway, we've moved, we're still getting settled, and the kitty cats are finally content after weeks of knowing something wasn't quite right in their world. I should be back regularly sometime soon. :)
Happy August!Labels: Life's little luxuries, Mother Nature, moving, Mr. Honey

Nightmares amidst a storm
I'm getting ready to go grocery shopping this morning, which brings back a very painful memory from last night. See, at 2:30 AM, I awoke to the sounds of thunder exploding over my house and rain pouring down like all the angels in the sky had simultaneously decided to overturn those buckets of tears they've been hoarding since early April. It was fantastic.
But the downside, of course, was that waking up in the middle of the night inspired some rather unpleasant dreams. In fact, I dreamed I was at the grocery store. My cart was like the bottomless pit - it took hours and hours to empty everything I was purchasing onto the belt, and I don't remember how high the mountain of bags was. I do, however, remember the bill. And I distinctly remember thinking, "Mr. Honey isn't going to like this." See, Mr. Honey's out of town for the month, so it's just me and the kitties that I have to feed. And there was no way in the world I could justify over $400 for one week's worth of groceries for the 3 of us, 2 of whom exclusively eat cat food. Good cat food, but not gourmet cat food. Either I was planning on eating filet mignon every night, with a side of some rare vegetable and caviar, or I was planning to get fat. I'm not sure I like either option. So now, I'm off to buy regular fruits and vegetables, and hope like hell it costs less than $400.
Happy Tuesday!Labels: dreams, Mother Nature

Farewell, Cruel World
Well, it's not looking good here in Georgia. The longer we go without rain, the more convinced I am that I'm being poisoned. Yep, that's right. Darwinism is alive and well in this grand state, and it's taking the form of pollen poisoning.
Seriously, people, I saw a guy walking around the other day hacking up a cloud of pollen. A male coworker told me he watched pollen clouds blow over a field much like dust would during a drought in the midwest. And then there was the lady I work with who went in for a lung scan and came back in tears. Seems she needs surgery to remove the trees that have sprouted in her lungs. Doc said she'll probably make it, but she shouldn't inhale pollen for at least two weeks after the surgery. She's making plans to move to the city. She'd rather die by smog.
Green is pretty, but I'm getting awful tired of it. Itchy eyes, scratchy throats, and congested sinuses are making everyone cranky. Mother Nature, if you're listening, can you please send some rain to wash away all this pollen?Labels: Honey Gets Dramatic, Mother Nature
